FAQs

Why do I have to login with my UH account? What if I forgot my UH login information?

Reporting of credentials are for UH students who either took classes or graduated from a program that resulted in a industry-recognized credential. For that reason, the site is limited to UH students and requires a UH login. If you require assistance with your UH Login, please visit the following website: Click Here

Why are students being asked to report credentials that were earned from an organization external to UH?

On July 1, 2021, a new bill was enacted by the Legislature of the State of Hawai`i requiring the reporting of student attainment of industry-recognized credentials. Many of those credentials are not issued by the University of Hawai`i (UH) so we are requesting that UH students self-report this information via this website.

What about certifications/credentials earned that have nothing to do with the University of Hawai`i?

We are required to report on certifications/credentials earned by University of Hawai`i students as a result of taking UH classes or graduating from a UH program that prepared them for the credential. Students who may have taken preparation classes that were not part of UH are not required to report.

What is considered adequate evidence of a credential?

A copy of the actual certificate/credential earned with the student's name and issue date. This needs to be uploaded as a file and acceptable file types are .PDF, .JPG, .JPEG, or .PNG

How do I report a credential that I've earned if it's not in the credential list?

The current credential list is based on the Promising Credentials report, and is the list we are required to report on. If you feel your credential should be included, select the "Other/Not Listed" option. Staff will review the credential evidence that is uploaded to determine whether the credential name should be added to the credential listing.

Who will be looking at or have access to the information I submit? How secure is the information I'm providing?

Access to credential information is limited to a handful of UH staff. Validation of credentials may require review by a faculty member or subject matter expert. All information is encrypted and stored in a database on a secure UH server.

How far back can I report a credential or certification?

We are accepting credentials/certifications issued on or after July 1, 2022.

Is there a deadline for students to submit their credential information?

Currently there is no deadline for reporting. The University of Hawai`i is required to report industry-recognized credentials earned from July 1, 2022 forward. As an incentive to students, we are offering the chance to win a $200 Amazon gift card to encourage students to report for the current 2022-23 academic year.

When will the drawings for the $200 gift cards occur?

We are planning to do 15 random drawings for the first 300 entries. No specific dates are currently set but information will be provided on the website.

Why do I have to provide my SSN in order to receive/win the $200 gift card?

The gift cards are being issued by the UH Foundation (UHF). It is their policy that students must provide their SSN to collect any cash/gift card prizes.
